The D6 Dental Experience

The D6 Dental Clinic process is a guide to our strategy and care to all our patients

Long established practice

The practice was established in 1984 and since then has developed a reputation for being a caring and friendly practice.

Accessible Location

D6 Dental is easily located on Rathgar Road, Rathmines, opposite the ESSO service station.

We are a ten minute walk from the Luas Green line (Ranelagh and Beechwood Stops) and a one minute walk from Dublin Bus Stop No. 1077 (Rathmines Garda Station). Dublin Bus readily serves the practice with buses 14, 15, 15a, 15b, 18, 65, 65b, 83 and 83a.

Paid parking is available on Grosvenor Road and in The Swan Centre.

7 Day Emergency Care

Our team of experienced dentists provide a 7 Day Emergency Care service, 52 weeks of the year. You do not need to be an existing patient to avail of this service.

Anxious Patients Welcome

We particularly enjoy caring for anxious patients, and the Principal Dentist, Dr Jamie Maguire holds a post-graduate qualification in Conscious Sedation. Dr Maguire offers both Intravenous (Twilight sleep – Midazolam) and Inhalation (Happy Air – Nitrous oxide) sedation services.

Implant Dentistry

Dr Jamie Maguire holds a post-graduate qualification in Implant Dentistry, and has been involved in implant dentistry since 2003. He carries out both straightforward and advanced implant dentistry, including implant crowns, bridges and dentures stabilised by implants.

Specialist Orthodontics

Dr Muireann O Donovan is our resident Specialist Orthodontist, who is experienced in carrying out conventional braces, and Invisalign for teenagers and adults alike.

Hygienist Care

Ms Jillian Friel is our experienced and dedicated hygienist and is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays for hygiene care.

About Us

Dr Jamie Maguire

Jamie joined the practice in April 2015, as practice principal from Dr Tony Connellan.

Prior to his return to Ireland, Jamie spent 10 years working in practices in London and Glasgow, as well undertaking an additional three years general professional training in Newcastle Dental Hospital.

He holds post-graduate qualifications in Implant Dentistry and Sedation, awarded by Newcastle University, as well as having an interest in Mandibular Advancement Splints for the treatment of snoring.

In 1999 Jamie qualified from Cork Dental School, receiving honours in Conservation, Child Dental Health, Orthodontics and Oral Surgery where he received the Colgate Prize for General Dentistry.
Dr Muireann O’ Donovan

We are delighted to welcome Dr Muireann O’ Donovan, Specialist Orthodontist to D6 Dental.

Muireann provides all types of braces including metal, ceramic tooth coloured braces and Invisalign clear braces for all ages. She has over 10 years’ experience providing brace treatment exclusively, and in that time has gained a reputation for being a caring orthodontist successfully treating patients of all ages.

Muireann takes time to discuss your treatment and options, so you feel confident in your orthodontic treatment. Muireann practised as a dentist for several years before undertaking her 3 year orthodontic speciality degree. Following successful completion of her MSc in Orthodontics, she was awarded a Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2010 and is a registered specialist orthodontist with the Dental Council of Ireland.

Appointments are available Wednesdays until late and Fridays. Registered member of: Orthodontic Society of Ireland, Irish Dental Association, Invisalign
Dr Maria O'Brien

Dr Maria O Brien joined the practice in 2017 and graduated with honours from University College Cork in 2014.

Since finishing her dental degree, Maria has continued her dental education by undertaking courses in endodontic (root canal) and oral surgery. She has started an Implant Masters Postgraduate course in Newcastle University.

A native of Waterford, Maria provides all aspects of dentistry in a friendly and professional manner.
Dr Marian Kelly

Marian had her own practice in Rathmines before she joined us here in Rathgar. She is a Cork graduate with a keen interest in music and a member of Our Lady’s Choral Society.
Jillian Friel Friedrichs, RDH

(University of Glasgow). Jillian qualified as a Dental Nurse in Dublin Dental School & Hospital Trinity College Dublin, and in 1990 and graduated in Dental Hygiene from University of Glasgow. Jillian works in orthodontic and general private practices. Jillian is registered with the Dental Council of Ireland and was also involved in the establishing the Irish Dental Hygienists Association for her profession and remains an active member of that Association.
Adrienne Garvey

Adrienne is our receptionist/administrator. Adrienne has many years experience in dental practices and will be happy to help you and advise you on what to expect during your visit and any benefits you may be entitled to on income tax or under the PRSI or GMS Medical Card scheme.
Louise Delahunty

Louise is our Registered Dental Nurse. She trained and qualified in the Dublin Dental School & Hospital, Trinity College Dublin. Her primary goal is to ensure that our patients are happy and that treatment runs smoothly at each visit.
Pamela Keating

Pamela has been a nurse in D6 Dental for 4 years. She has completed her training in Dublin Dental School & Hopsital through Trinity College Dublin. Pamela takes great pleasure in looking after each patient, particularly nervous patients.
