Veneers
- A veneer is recommended when the surface of the tooth is discoloured, damaged or filled
- A small amount of the outer surface of the tooth is prepared
- The veneer is a shell type cover which is fitted to the face of the tooth surface
Crowns
- Crowns are used to replace teeth that are damaged through decay or trauma
- They are made of porcelain or gold bonded to porcelain
- A crown, sometimes known as a cap, as the crown fits over the prepared tooth -like a cap
- A post may be fitted to the tooth canal and the crown ,in turn fitted to the post
Bridge
- A bridge replaces a missing tooth by useing the teeth on either side as a support
- It is made of porcelain or gold bonded to porcelain
- A bridge can be used to replace a single tooth or more
Implants
- An implant replaces a missing tooth by placing a titanium fixture in the jaw
- Once healing has taken place – 12 weeks approx – a crown is placed onto the fixture
